What should you know about a Brazilian chemical peel?

Brazilian chemical peel is a marketing description rather than one universally defined formula. A peel may contain acids such as Glycolic Acid or other agents, applied for a controlled time to loosen connections between surface cells. The depth of treatment affects redness, scaling, sensitivity and recovery. A superficial peel may be chosen for rough texture or clogged pores, while deeper treatments require more careful medical selection.

Peels can be used in plans for Acne, Comedonal Acne, Sun-Damaged Skin or selected pigmentation concerns, but irritation itself can worsen discoloration in some skin tones. A clinician should identify the condition before choosing a formula.

Tell the practitioner about retinoids, acne medicines, recent waxing, cold sores, eczema, pregnancy, allergies and recent sun exposure. Follow the requested pause in irritating products. After treatment, cleanse gently, moisturize as advised, do not pull peeling skin and protect the area from sunlight.
