Botox injections for forehead lines: what to know

A prescriber maps the forehead while you move your brows and relax your face. Small injections of botulinum toxin reduce communication between selected nerves and muscles for a limited period. The aim is a softer appearance while retaining useful expression, not a frozen face.

Forehead lines may be dynamic, appearing mainly with brow lifting, or more established and visible at rest. Botox mainly affects muscle activity. It does not repair sun-damaged skin, replace lost volume, or treat every type of wrinkle.

Tell your clinician about medicines, allergies, prior facial procedures, pregnancy or breastfeeding, eyelid heaviness, and any neuromuscular illness. Confirm the product, injector, follow-up plan, and aftercare before treatment.

Expect brief injection discomfort and possible redness, tenderness, bruising, or headache. Keep the area clean and avoid rubbing it. Your clinician can tell you when to return for assessment and whether another approach fits lines that remain visible at rest.

Contact the clinic for worsening pain, spreading redness, marked swelling, new eyelid or eyebrow drooping, or vision changes. Seek urgent medical help if you have trouble breathing, swallowing, or speaking, or weakness that spreads beyond the treated muscles.
