What should you know about bodysuit after liposuction?

Liposuction temporarily leaves treated tissues swollen and tender. A purpose-made bodysuit applies even support over the operated area and may help clothing feel more secure while you move. It should feel snug, not painfully tight, and should not cause numbness, increasing pain, colour change or difficulty breathing. The garment does not remove fluid by itself and does not replace wound care, prescribed medicines or follow-up.

Wear the garment for the exact periods your surgical team gives you, including guidance about washing, sleeping and showering. Keep incisions clean and dry as instructed, check the skin each day, and smooth folds that rub. Do not add extra layers or alter the garment to increase pressure. Gentle walking may be encouraged, while strenuous exercise and heavy lifting usually wait until your clinician approves them. Radiofrequency Skin Tightening and Cryolipolysis are different procedures, not substitutes for postoperative instructions.

Contact your surgical team promptly for worsening one-sided swelling, severe or increasing pain, spreading redness, drainage, fever, a wound opening, or a garment that causes persistent numbness or skin injury. Seek urgent help for chest pain, sudden breathlessness, fainting or severe calf pain and swelling.

Ask how long to wear the bodysuit, how tightly it should fit, when to remove it for bathing, and what to do if swelling changes the fit. Clarify permitted activity, incision care, warning signs and the date of your follow-up.
