What should you know about blood pressure monitor with ecg?

The cuff estimates the force of blood against artery walls. The ECG function detects electrical signals through sensors, often when you touch the device or apply it as directed, and may flag an irregular rhythm. Movement, poor contact, a loose cuff or muscle tension can create an unclear result. A device reading is a useful prompt for review, not a complete diagnosis of rhythm, circulation or heart structure.

Rest quietly before measuring, place the cuff on the correct arm and keep your arm supported at heart level. Follow the device instructions for ECG contact, keep still and record the time and symptoms. Use a validated device where possible and take the results to a clinician rather than changing medicine yourself. Mention implanted devices, known rhythm problems and medicines that affect the heart.

Call emergency services for chest pressure, severe breathlessness, collapse, sudden weakness, a new facial droop or difficulty speaking. Arrange prompt medical advice for repeated irregular-rhythm alerts, faintness, sustained racing or unusually slow heartbeat, or blood pressure readings accompanied by severe symptoms. A normal device result does not explain away concerning symptoms.
