Before booking any named studio, confirm who performs the scan, whether the service is diagnostic or non-diagnostic, how findings are handled, and what happens if the baby cannot be seen clearly.

3D/4D Ultrasound uses sound waves to create still images with depth or moving images over time. Image clarity varies with the baby's position, stage of pregnancy, fluid around the baby, and the tissues between the probe and baby.

A keepsake session is designed mainly for viewing or recording images. An Anomaly Scan examines fetal anatomy within a clinical pathway, while a Growth Scan measures growth and may assess other pregnancy features when medically indicated. A souvenir image cannot confirm that development is normal.

Ask for the operator's professional qualifications, the purpose and expected length of the session, and whether a written clinical report is provided. Find out how the studio cleans equipment, protects your personal images, obtains consent, and responds when an unexpected concern appears.

Keep every recommended maternity appointment even if the keepsake session looks reassuring. Bring questions about your baby's health to your obstetrician, midwife, or diagnostic sonographer, who can interpret findings in the context of your pregnancy.

Contact your maternity team promptly for vaginal bleeding, leaking fluid, painful or regular contractions, fever, severe headache, vision changes, significant abdominal pain, or a change in your baby's usual movements. Use emergency services for heavy bleeding, collapse, severe breathing difficulty, or another life-threatening symptom.

Do not book a keepsake scan to investigate a symptom or delay recommended care while waiting for an appointment. A medical assessment may require examination, monitoring, or diagnostic imaging that an entertainment service does not provide.

Ask which clinical scans are recommended for your pregnancy, what each one is intended to assess, and whether there is any medical reason to avoid or postpone an additional session. If a studio mentions a concern, ask where and how quickly you should be assessed clinically.
