Some rings follow a cycle with time in and time out, while others have different replacement directions. Hormone exposure can cause spotting, breast tenderness, headache, nausea, or vaginal irritation, particularly after beginning use.

Wash and dry your hands before insertion or removal. Pinch the ring, guide it into the vagina, and check periodically that it remains in place. Disposal and storage directions are provided with the product.

If the ring comes out, is inserted late, or remains in longer than directed, consult its leaflet immediately. The response may depend on how long it was out and where you are in the schedule; a pharmacist or clinician can clarify additional contraception and pregnancy testing.

Book a review for persistent irritation, pain, troublesome bleeding, repeated slipping, or difficulty removing the ring. Mention migraine symptoms, smoking, blood-pressure problems, clot history, and all medicines or supplements when discussing suitability.
