Before and After Having Filler Dissolved

Dissolving is not a simple reversal for every injectable. Hyaluronidase acts on hyaluronic acid, whereas other filler materials may need observation, another procedure or specialist management. The treated area may not return exactly to its pre-filler appearance.

Needle entry and the dissolving injection can cause tenderness, bruising, redness and puffiness. Early asymmetry may reflect swelling rather than remaining filler, so immediate photographs are not a reliable final comparison. The amount and placement of the original filler, scar tissue, natural anatomy and the reason for dissolving all affect the later contour.

Hyaluronidase can also affect naturally occurring hyaluronic acid near the injection site for a time. This may make the area appear flatter or less hydrated before tissues settle.

Tell the injector the product name if known, where and when it was placed, previous reactions, medicines, allergies and any earlier dissolving attempts. Agree whether the aim is partial correction, treatment of a lump or broader removal. Images from before the original filler can provide a more useful baseline.

Afterward, follow the clinic's instructions for cleansing, cosmetics, exercise and touching the area. Do not repeatedly press or massage unless specifically directed. Keep the clinic's urgent contact details and allow swelling to settle before deciding whether more correction is wanted.

Seek emergency care immediately for any vision change, severe or unusual pain, pale or mottled skin, weakness, trouble speaking, breathing difficulty, or swelling of the tongue or throat. These symptoms can reflect a blood-flow problem, neurological event or severe allergic reaction and should not be watched at home.

Contact the treating clinic promptly for increasing redness, heat, discharge, fever, an open sore, rapidly expanding swelling or a hard painful lump. Mild bruising can occur, but a worsening pattern deserves direct assessment.

Ask whether the original product is dissolvable, why hyaluronidase is appropriate, how partial correction will be judged and what emergency arrangements are available. Discuss the possibility of residual filler, over-correction, repeat treatment and alternatives if the material is not hyaluronic acid.
