A bump that is flattening and becoming less itchy is likely settling, even if colour remains. A truly new raised lesion after sleep may reflect another bite. Irritant reactions to cleaning products or insecticides can instead produce broader burning, dryness, or rash where the substance contacted skin.

Record the date and location of new lesions and compare photographs taken in similar light. Check whether the pest professional expects a follow-up visit and follow preparation instructions exactly. Do not assume every post-treatment rash is caused by bed bugs.

Continue prescribed skin medicine only as directed, including limits on body location and duration. Cool compresses, gentle washing, and avoiding scratching can make healing more comfortable. Check with a pharmacist before combining an antihistamine with other medicines or applying a topical corticosteroid to the face, skin folds, or broken skin.

Contact the pest-control provider about fresh evidence rather than adding unplanned chemicals. Ventilate and clean treated spaces according to their instructions, keep insecticides away from skin, and do not mix pest products. Save product details if irritation began after chemical exposure.

Obtain emergency help for breathing trouble, swelling of the mouth or tongue, faintness, or severe widespread blistering. Move away from a recently treated area and contact emergency services if breathing symptoms follow possible insecticide exposure.

Promptly contact a clinician for fever, pus, increasing warmth or pain, rapidly expanding swelling, or a rash that worsens after a medicine. Persistent new lesions despite environmental follow-up warrant reassessment of both the infestation and the skin diagnosis.
