It combines fat removal from a donor area with lip injections, so both areas need assessment and aftercare. Some transferred fat may not remain, and the final shape can differ from the appearance during early swelling.

A clinician removes fat from a suitable body area using liposuction, processes it, and places small amounts into selected parts of the lips. Because the material comes from your body, it is not a synthetic implant; however, the procedure still carries risks from liposuction, injections, and any anaesthesia used.

Results depend on lip anatomy, the available donor fat, healing, and how much of the transferred fat establishes a blood supply. Possible outcomes include bruising, swelling, tenderness, asymmetry, lumps, scarring, infection, fat loss, or a need for further treatment.

Choose a licensed clinician with specific training in facial fat grafting. Share your medicines and supplements, allergies, smoking or vaping history, previous lip procedures, cold-sore history, bleeding problems, and relevant medical conditions. Follow individual instructions about medicines, eating, transport, wound care, and activity.

Contact the treating clinic promptly for worsening redness, warmth, drainage, fever, bleeding that does not stop with instructed care, rapidly increasing swelling, or pain that is severe or getting worse. Pale, grey, dusky, or mottled skin around an injected area also needs urgent assessment because it can signal reduced blood flow.

Seek emergency care for trouble breathing, chest pain, fainting, sudden weakness, confusion, or a sudden change in vision. These symptoms are not routine recovery effects and should not wait for a scheduled review.

Ask where fat would be taken from, what type of anaesthesia is planned, how the clinician manages asymmetry or fat loss, and which symptoms require an urgent call. Clarify how your lips may change as swelling resolves and whether a later procedure could be considered if the retained volume is uneven or lower than expected.
