A silicone gel sheet forms a flexible barrier over the scar and limits moisture loss from its surface. This hydrated environment can make firm or raised scar tissue feel softer and can ease itching or tightness for some people.

The sheet does not erase a scar, and change is usually gradual. It is generally used after an injury, burn, or operation only when the skin has sealed completely, with no scab, drainage, or open area.

Wash and dry the healed scar and your hands before application. Place the adhesive side over the scar without pulling the skin, and follow the package directions for trimming, wear time, washing, storage, and replacement. Do not apply creams or oils beneath the sheet unless a clinician or the product instructions say they are compatible.

Begin with a shorter wear period if your skin is sensitive, then increase use as tolerated. Remove the sheet for cleaning and whenever the skin becomes sweaty or damp. Stop using it over any reopened area.

For mild rash, itching, or soggy-looking skin under the sheet, pause use, gently wash and dry the area, and let it settle. Arrange a clinician review if irritation persists, blisters develop, or the scar keeps becoming thicker, painful, or restrictive.

Ask whether the wound is fully closed, whether silicone suits this type and location of scar, and how to fit the sheet around a joint or sensitive area. If the scar remains raised or limits movement, discuss whether injections, laser treatment, pressure therapy, or scar revision assessment may be appropriate.
