Seek care sooner for pus, a tender lump, open sores, rapidly extending redness, fever or worsening pain. Emergency help is appropriate for breathing difficulty, faintness, or swelling around the mouth after a medicine or skin product.

Tell the clinician when the rash began, which side is affected, what touches the area and which treatments you already tried. Ask if testing for fungus, bacteria or contact allergy is useful. Clarify where to apply any prescription, how to recognise irritation from it, and what change would mean you should return for review.
