Arrange a medical review if the patch is new and spreading, becomes thick or velvety, affects other body folds, or persists despite avoiding irritation. Seek prompt care for pain, warmth, drainage, an open sore, a rapidly changing mark or a lump in the armpit. These features need diagnosis rather than repeated cosmetic treatment.

Also ask what irritation should make you stop treatment and whether the patch suggests a health issue that needs separate assessment.
