The intended change is a softer bulge beneath the jaw rather than weight loss or a different facial structure. Early photographs may show puffiness, redness or bruising from the injections; these are not the final contour. Once swelling settles, compare the jawline from the same angle, posture, distance and lighting. A strong change in head position can make a modest result look larger than it is.

Fullness caused mainly by loose skin, a small or recessed chin, prominent neck muscles or a salivary gland will not respond like a superficial fat pocket. A clinician should examine the area rather than judging suitability from a photograph alone.

Tell the clinician about medicines, supplements, allergies, previous facial procedures, swallowing problems, bleeding problems, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and any infection near the chin. Ask who will perform the injections and how they identify the safe treatment plane. Follow the clinic's aftercare instructions, avoid pressing or massaging the area unless specifically directed, and allow several weeks before deciding whether the contour has changed.

Take your own baseline photographs with a neutral expression and relaxed neck. If more treatment is proposed, request an in-person review after inflammation has resolved so the clinician can reassess symmetry, skin support and the remaining fat layer.

Contact the treating clinic promptly for worsening pain, increasing warmth or redness, drainage, an open sore, marked asymmetry, an uneven smile, facial weakness, or difficulty swallowing. Seek emergency help for trouble breathing, rapidly increasing neck swelling, faintness, or signs of a severe allergic reaction. Ordinary tenderness and swelling should trend toward improvement; symptoms that intensify instead deserve assessment.

Ask whether the visible fullness is actually pinchable fat, whether skin laxity may remain after fat reduction, what product will be injected, and what experience the practitioner has with the area beneath the chin. Also clarify the expected pattern of swelling, the review plan, who to contact after hours and which alternative would better address your anatomy if injections are unsuitable.
