Apple Cider Vinegar for Moles

Acid injury may cause pain, blistering, infection, scarring or lighter or darker patches. Even if the visible surface peels away, mole cells may remain deeper in the skin. Home destruction also prevents a clinician from examining intact tissue when diagnosis is uncertain.

Many moles are harmless, but appearance and change guide whether closer examination or tissue analysis is appropriate. Vinegar-related crusting, bleeding and colour alteration can mimic change or hide an original border. A photograph taken before any injury may help show what was there, but it does not replace an examination.

Features worth reporting include asymmetry, an uneven edge, several colours, noticeable enlargement or evolution in shape, sensation or surface. A spot that looks different from your other moles also merits attention. None of these signs alone confirms skin cancer.

Discontinue vinegar and rinse any remaining product away with lukewarm water. Do not scrape the mole, cover it with more vinegar, or try to neutralise the acid with another chemical. Keep an injured area clean and protected from friction, and seek advice about suitable wound care.

For an unwanted or concerning mole, arrange clinical evaluation before removal. Mole removal may involve surgical excision when complete removal and laboratory examination are appropriate. The technique depends on the lesion, its depth and location, the reason for removal and the expected scar.

Arrange prompt assessment for a new or evolving mole, unexplained recurrent bleeding, ulceration, persistent itching or a lesion that stands apart from the rest. Do not wait for a home remedy to work on a changing spot.

After vinegar exposure, obtain timely care for a large blister, deep wound, worsening pain, spreading warmth or redness, pus, fever or bleeding that continues despite firm pressure. If vinegar reaches the eye, rinse continuously with clean lukewarm water and seek urgent help.

Ask whether dermoscopy or removal is advised, whether removed tissue will be examined, what scar to expect and how results will be communicated. Explain when the mole first changed and bring earlier photographs if available. Disclose vinegar use and describe the skin reaction.
