What freezing does to a skin lesion

Caring for the treated site
Follow the clinician's wound-care directions. Usually, gentle washing, careful drying, and protection from rubbing are preferable to picking at a blister or crust. A dressing may be useful when clothing repeatedly catches the area.
Do not puncture a blister unless your clinician has specifically advised it. Protect healing skin from sunlight and attend follow-up if the lesion remains, returns, or needs reassessment. Never handle or apply liquid nitrogen yourself; contact can cause a severe cold injury.

Contact the treating clinic if pain is worsening rather than settling, redness is spreading, pus appears, the site feels increasingly hot, or you develop fever. Ongoing bleeding, loss of sensation, or a wound that is not healing also warrants assessment.
Seek prompt care after accidental liquid-nitrogen exposure, especially when a large area, the eyes, or the airway may be involved. Do not rub frozen skin or apply direct heat while arranging help.
