Anteromedial Cheek Filler: A Patient Guide

The treatment requires careful anatomical planning because this zone lies close to the nose, lower eyelid, tear-trough region, and important vessels. It cannot correct every shadow or under-eye bag, and excessive volume may make the central cheek look puffy.

Anteromedial means toward the front and inner portion of the cheek. Filler placed here is generally used to address a central hollow or a loss of support between the nose, lower eyelid, and cheek, rather than to widen or sharpen the outer cheekbone.

A clinician should examine the face at rest and during expression, looking for fluid-prone under-eyes, natural asymmetry, skin quality, fat-pad position, and previous filler. If the apparent hollow is mainly created by a prominent under-eye bag or swelling, adding gel beneath it may not produce the desired change.

Discuss your goals in terms of contour rather than requesting a set amount of filler. Tell the injector about prior procedures, dental or sinus symptoms, skin infections, cold sores, allergies, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and medicines or supplements that can affect bruising. Ask to see the sealed product and have its details recorded.

Some early tenderness, swelling, bruising, and temporary asymmetry may follow injection. Use only the aftercare advised by your clinician, and avoid pressing or repeatedly checking the area. If swelling or contour remains concerning, arrange an examination instead of trying to reshape the filler yourself.

Call the clinic for pain that is getting worse, spreading redness, warmth, discharge, fever, marked swelling, or a tender or persistent nodule. The clinician may need to distinguish ordinary recovery from infection, inflammation, or delayed reaction.

Obtain emergency care without delay if the skin turns pale, grey, blue, or mottled; if pain is severe; or if you develop visual change, eyelid drooping, a strong new headache, facial weakness, limb weakness, or speech difficulty. Filler-related blood-flow problems are time-sensitive even when the injected area initially looks small.

Ask whether the inner cheek is truly the source of the shadow you notice, how the plan accounts for under-eye swelling, where the product will sit, and how the clinician will avoid an overfilled central face. For hyaluronic acid filler, ask how suspected vessel blockage would be recognised and treated, including access to a dissolving enzyme and urgent follow-up.
