The brand name alone does not describe the full treatment. Safety and appearance also depend on the exact formulation, injection site, amount, technique, and the clinician's understanding of facial blood vessels and tissue layers.

Juvéderm gels contain hyaluronic acid, a substance that binds water. Once placed in tissue, the gel can support a contour, soften the appearance of a fold, or add volume. Formulations vary in qualities such as firmness and flexibility, so a gel chosen for structural support may not be the one selected for a softer, mobile area.

Possible sites include the lips, jawline, cheeks, facial folds, and under-eye region, but suitability depends on the specific product's authorised use and an individual assessment. Skin boosters use a different placement strategy and treatment aim even when hyaluronic acid is involved.

Bring details of previous injections, implants, facial procedures, allergies, medical conditions, and current medicines or supplements. Tell the clinician about active acne, cold sores, dental work, infection, or inflammation near the intended site because treatment may need to be deferred.

Before consenting, check the sealed product label with the injector and understand the target area, expected change, alternatives, aftercare, and follow-up route. After treatment, use only the touching, cleansing, exercise, and skincare instructions given for your procedure; do not manipulate a lump unless your injector has assessed it and advised this.

Expected early reactions can include local swelling, tenderness, redness, bruising, or temporary firmness. Arrange prompt review if these changes keep worsening, the area becomes hot, fluid drains from the skin, a new sore appears, or you feel feverish or unwell.

Seek emergency care for severe pain, a spreading pale or blotchy colour change, cool skin, sudden visual disturbance, eye pain, facial or limb weakness, difficulty speaking, breathing difficulty, or tongue and throat swelling. If vision is affected, do not drive yourself.

Ask which Juvéderm formulation is proposed, whether it is authorised for that anatomical area, and what training the injector has for the planned procedure. Clarify how much change is achievable, how asymmetry will be handled, what signs trigger an urgent call, and whether hyaluronidase and an emergency protocol are available on site.
