Aldara is a brand of topical imiquimod. Read the pack and dispensing label carefully because the sachet's total cream weight and the active ingredient are different measurements. If the wording is unclear, a pharmacist should identify the formulation before it is applied.

Imiquimod stimulates a local immune response in treated skin. Clinicians prescribe it for selected skin conditions, but the application area, schedule and course depend on the diagnosis and body site. Instructions for one condition should not be copied to another.

Redness, itching, burning, flaking, crusting or tenderness can develop where it is applied. Some local inflammation may accompany its action, yet a severe or spreading reaction is a reason to pause and obtain specific advice.
