A tender, red, or mildly swollen injection site reflects a local immune response. Some people also feel achy, tired, or feverish. These symptoms may begin within several days and generally settle without specific treatment. A reaction that is intense, continues to worsen, or interferes substantially with drinking, walking, breathing, or staying awake deserves clinical advice rather than routine home care.

Drink fluids, rest if you feel tired, and move the vaccinated arm gently. A cool, clean compress can ease injection-site discomfort. Avoid rubbing or repeatedly pressing the area. If you need medicine for pain or fever, check which option and dose suit your age, health conditions, allergies, pregnancy status, and current medicines. Continue to follow any travel and mosquito-bite precautions given at your appointment; vaccination does not replace personal protection from mosquito bites.

Call emergency services for trouble breathing, swelling of the face or throat, widespread hives, collapse, or severe dizziness, because these can signal a serious allergic reaction. Seek urgent medical assessment for confusion, unusual weakness, a seizure, difficulty speaking or moving, persistent vomiting, yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, severe abdominal pain, or rapidly worsening illness. Do not wait for a routine appointment when these signs appear.

Ask when your vaccination document becomes valid for your journey and whether your itinerary requires any additional precautions. If another vaccine, pregnancy, an immune-system condition, or medicine that suppresses immunity is relevant, ask whether it changes your follow-up advice.
