Aftercare for Fat-Dissolving Injections

Keep the treated region clean and avoid trying to speed the response with vigorous rubbing or home devices unless your injector specifically advised them. Arrange transport or practical support if swelling affects comfort or normal activities.

Fat-dissolving injections cause a controlled local response in the treated fatty tissue. Swelling, bruising, tenderness, firmness, redness, itching, or temporary altered sensation can develop around injection points. The area may look less even while swelling is present, so early appearance does not show the final contour.

Treatment location matters. Injections beneath the chin sit near structures involved in facial movement and swallowing, while treatment elsewhere has different anatomical considerations. Your injector should explain which sensations fit the chosen area and how they should evolve.

Use a cool pack wrapped in clean cloth if your injector recommends cooling; never place frozen material directly against skin. Choose loose clothing around a body treatment site and sleep in a position that avoids sustained pressure when practical.

Leave puncture sites alone, avoid massage unless it forms part of your written plan, and postpone heat exposure or strenuous exercise for the interval given by the clinic. Check before taking medicines for discomfort if you have allergies, stomach or kidney problems, take blood-thinning medication, or are breastfeeding.

Contact the injector promptly for worsening rather than settling pain, redness that continues to spread, increasing warmth, pus, fever, open skin, blistering, or a dusky colour. New weakness or an uneven smile after treatment beneath the chin also needs prompt clinical assessment.

Get urgent medical help for trouble breathing, throat or tongue swelling, severe difficulty swallowing, faintness, or rapidly progressing symptoms. These are not routine aftercare issues and should not wait for a scheduled check.

Ask which product was used, which region and tissue layer were treated, and what local reaction the clinician expects in your case. Confirm when exercise, heat exposure, skincare, and massage can resume, how to reach the clinic after hours, and which facial movement or swallowing changes require immediate contact.
