Many treatment plans have reached the pregnancy-testing and early follow-up stage by now. When a test is positive, monitoring may continue until an ultrasound can assess the pregnancy’s location and development. Medication effects can overlap with early-pregnancy experiences, including bloating, breast soreness, constipation and fatigue. Spotting also has more than one possible cause. A symptom diary may help communication, but it cannot replace blood testing or imaging.

Check that the clinic has received your test result and that you know the next contact date. Take prescribed progesterone or other support exactly as directed until the team provides a clear stop or change instruction.

Choose gentle routine activity, regular meals and enough fluids for comfort. Before taking a new medicine, tell the pharmacist or clinician about the embryo transfer and possible pregnancy. Keep the clinic’s daytime and out-of-hours contact details available.

Promptly report worsening cramps, fresh bleeding, fever, persistent vomiting, rapidly increasing abdominal swelling or passing much less urine than usual. The clinic can decide whether examination, blood tests or imaging are appropriate.

Emergency assessment is warranted for severe pelvic or abdominal pain, one-sided pain, shoulder-tip pain, collapse, faintness, heavy bleeding, chest pain or difficulty breathing. Mention the recent embryo transfer even if a home pregnancy test was negative or uncertain.
